Coordinator for Retention Programs/Advisor
The University of Wisconsin – Parkside invites applications for the Coordinator for Retention Programs/Advisor in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, a 12-month, full time position.
Required Qualification: Bachelor’s degree and experience working with multicultural and/or under-prepared students required. Experience developing and implementing student success initiatives for low-income and underrepresented student groups; ability to work effectively with culturally diverse students and colleagues. The applicant must possess effective communication skills, written and verbal in Spanish.
Preferences: Master’s degree in education, college student personnel, or related field, background similar to target population.
Responsibilities:
- Assist, develop and advocate for Spanish speaking students.
- Provide academic guidance and interpersonal counseling and support to a case load of student participants.
- Coordinate, develop and implement cultural programs for the four underrepresented populations.
- Assist in supervision of student employees (Peer Advisors, ARU Communication Coordinator, ARU Mentors, and Graphic Designer)
- Provide general advising to students
- Coordinate with various campus departments to implement related academic support services
- Assist in the development of print and promotional materials including construction and design of brochures, posters, newsletters, etc.
- Maintain student files; keep current and complete information
- Participate in university activities, including elected and appointed committees, student or campus programs, and other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.
