Advisor, Teacher Education
Appointment: The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for the position of Teacher Education Advisor. We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated excellence and administrative skill in working with post-secondary students. This position will provide advising and guidance to both degree and non degree seeking students, who are seeking teacher licensure
Required Qualifications: Candidate must have a Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in education, student services or a related field. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must. Experience in the following areas: advising, working with multiple diverse publics.
Preferred Qualifications: Ideal candidate will have experience in advising/teaching in higher education. Experience teaching in grades PK-12 and working with information technology is also preferred. A demonstrated knowledge of DPI policies related to teacher licensure is desired .
Responsibilities: The incumbent will be expected to work under the supervision of the Director of the Teacher Education in all aspects of advising as it relates to students enrolled in the various licensure programs at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Duties include the following:
- Provide advising and evaluate transcripts
- Maintain accurate program information
- Review academic record and eligibility requirements
- Assist in posting newly admitted students
- Prepare statistical reports
- Prepare Wisconsin teacher license forms
- Provide orientation sessions
