The orientation program is intended to assist students as they begin their adventure of living and learning in a new environment. At this event, students are welcomed by UW-Parkside staff, faculty, returning international students & local families. Immigration paperwork is processed, students meet other international students, we share a meal, you will have a campus tour, you will receive the university identification card (Ranger Card), activate your e-mail account, meet and greet campus personnel from various offices, register for classes, learn about your health insurance and how to stay safe and healthy on campus. In addition, you will receive an orientation folder with much needed information on local events, the U.S. education system, cross-cultural adaptation, campus events etc. In the Fall semester, (usually in August/September), the orientation is usually 2 full days. In the Spring semester (January) the program is one full day.
All new international students will be required to attend the orientation. See a sample agenda of what to expect on these days.
*Some students may have an opportunity to activate their e-mail and/or receive academic advising prior to the dates, below. However, it is still required for students to attend the orientation. Can’t attend due to visa issues? Please e-mail. consuelo.clemens@uwp.edu
