As part of your preparation to study abroad, you will need a passport. The information here will assist you in applying for the first time or in renewing your current passport.
U.S. State Department has passport application instructions online. If you already have a U.S. passport, and over the age of 16 when it was issued, it will be valid for 10 years from date of issuance. In order for you to travel/study abroad, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the end of your program. You may stop by the Education Abroad Office to pick up a passport application.
