The information below is for new, transfer, or continuing students at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
FAQ and Placement Testing Policies

PLACEMENT TESTING AND NEW STUDENTS:
- Most new students entering the University of Wisconsin-Parkside do not need to take the UW-System Math and English placement exam. Students are placed into math and English based on their ACT or SAT sub-scores. - Students are placed into chemistry based on their Math placement.
- Students wishing to establish placement beyond entry level courses in modern languages should take the placement test.
- New students with ACT or SAT scores older than three years will need to take placement tests.
- Transfer students who have not met the University Math and English basic skills requirements and with ACT/SAT scores older than three years will need to take placement tests.
- If instructed by the Admissions Office to take the Wisconsin Placement Test (WPT), plan to take the test at one of the scheduled times below.

PLACEMENT TESTING INFORMATION, DATES, AND TIMES:
- Weekday walk-in Placement Testing is located in The Tutoring Center, WYLL D180
(Campus Academic Map (PDF)). You must be prompt to allow adequate testing time.
- Plan to arrive at the testing room at least 15 minutes prior to the start of testing.
- You do not need to register or make a reservation for the Placement Tests.
- There are no fees for taking the Placement Tests.
- Bring a photo ID and two #2 pencils sharpened.
- You may use a simple non-graphing calculator for the math test.
Cell phone calculators are not permitted.
- The Math and English/Reading tests take approximately one and one-half hours each.
The Modern Languages test takes one hour.

CONTENT INFORMATION ON THE WISCONSIN PLACEMENT TEST :
Information about the placement test content can be obtained on the UW System Testing and Evaluation Services website.
INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES:
- Students who have documented disabilities and need accommodations for the Placement Test(s) will need to make their request through the Office of Disability Services at 262-595-2372 or via email at kirby@uwp.edu Students should allow 2-3 weeks for documentation to be reviewed and Placement Test appointments to be made.
INFORMATION ABOUT REGIONAL PLACEMENT TESTING:
PARKING INFORMATION (Campus Map):
- For weekday walk-in Placement Testing and if you are not currently enrolled as a student, you will need to purchase a daily permit ($2), park in a metered spot ($.25 for 15 minutes), or risk getting a ticket. Daily permits can be purchased from Campus Police on the east side of Tallent Hall (east of Wood Road). Meters are located along the front of the main campus parking lots. Quarters are needed for the meters. Be sure to allow adequate time to take care of this before testing.
- For weekend placement testing you may park in any of the general parking spaces .
RESULTS:
- Processing of course placement requires three business days after testing.
