James McKeever

Professor McKeever

James McKeever, Professor of Piano, has been on the UW-Parkside faculty since 1982. He has performed extensively as soloist throughout the Midwest and South. Also active as a chamber musician, he has toured with the Oriana Trio, and performs with Soundings, and the McKeever Duo, and has collaborated with dozens of soloist. He has presented numerous workshops and master classes on piano technique and performance. He has published articles in CLAVIER magazine, and is the editor of "Fundamentals of Piano Technique: The Conus Exercises, Explained and Illustrated."

Professor McKeever received the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts Degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-conservatory of Music, where he was a student of the noted Russian Pedagogue Olga Conus. He also studied with Lelia Gousseau of the Paris Conservatory, and Cuban-American pianist Santos Ojeda.

His primary teaching responsibilities are in applied piano, accompanying, piano pedagogy, and piano literature. James is married to Susan, a pianist and teacher who performs with Jim as the McKeever Duo and with other musicians at UW-Parkside.
