Summer STARS Academy has courses designed for academic, social and personal enrichment, career exploration, and cultural awareness. Classes include science, math, computer technology, reading, writing, arts, and other subject matter. Career exploration field trips to various sites are available, as well as cultural enrichment and college tours. Specific classes are designed to focus on high school success, ACT prep, college preparation, library awareness, community service projects and others. Students will demonstrate increased academic achievement in core courses such as math, science and English. Additionally, they will have an increased knowledge of various careers in areas such as medical, educational, legal, financial, and others by visiting job sites and meeting with various career professionals. Students are provided professional development training as resume writing, interviewing, public speaking, business etiquette, and technology advancement. They are afforded an opportunity to create an electronic portfolio that can be used as a lifelong learning tool. Visit two- and four-year colleges and universities.
