"Talking to students in my graduate program who come from big schools on the coasts I feel I have had an exceptional undergraduate experience. I am grateful for having been able to work side by side with my Psychology professors on various research projects. I see my education from Parkside paying off in ways I did not imagine."

Psychology Research Labs

The Psychology Department has six research labs. You'll find descriptions of the labs below.

Dr. Beyer:

Social Psychology Lab (Mol. 212). This lab has 10 computers for data collection. It also serves as a work room for Independent Study students.

Dr. Colston:

Psychology of Language Lab (Mol. 315). This lab utilizes three sound-isolation rooms equipped with computers and stand-alone audio/visual display and recording equipment for testing of individuals, dyads and triads. A small-group testing room equipped with A/V projection and recording is used for studies on larger groups. A collaborative work room is used for developing A/V and print materials used in the studies and for study analysis.

Dr. Gurtman:

Mol. 313. Shared lab with 12 computers for data collection, including surveys and online surveys.

Dr. Langley:

Memory Lab (Moln. 315E). This lab has four (4) computers for data collection, and two data analysis workstations for Independent Study students.

Dr. Recker:

Children's Research Lab (MOLN 315F). The mission of our lab is to better understand the processes underlying children's cognitive development. Specifically, our work uses a variety of methods to examine the development of spatial cognition. Each semester, five to six undergraduate research assistants work on Independent Studies in the lab. These students are involved in all aspects of the research process, gaining valuable experience working with children in a lab setting.
