A.A.S. Early Childhood Education to Early Childhood Education Certification (grades PK-3)
Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) students who successfully complete an A.A.S. degree after July 1, 2001 in early childhood education (WTCS statewide core curriculum) and who meet the conditions outlined below will be awarded the following credits towards early childhood certification upon transferring to UW-Parkside.

General Education Requirements:
Students transferring general education courses from WTCS to UW-Parkside may transfer a maximum of:
- 30 credits of general education, communication, behavioral science, and social science courses.
- Two courses from the math and/or natural science areas, if the courses were taken September 1995 or later.
- 72 credits can be transferred from collegiate transfer institutions to UW-Parkside.
Additional Conditions:
- Acceptance into the UW-Parkside professional program is based upon academic and non-academic criteria determined by the Department of Teacher Education.
- The UW-Parkside baccalaureate candidate must also meet UW-Parkside’s general education, cultural diversity and foreign language requirements.
- Program-to-program transfer courses/credits are accepted only for the degree specified in this agreement. A change of program or certification invalidates these courses/credits for transfer unless they are approved within some other program-to-program articulation agreement for a different certification at UW-Parkside.
- Course equivalencies specified in this articulation agreement are subject to change in the event that the course curriculum of the WTCS early childhood program or UW-Parkside undergoes revision.
- The minimum of 2.5 GPA on transferable work is required.
- Admission to UW-Parkside does NOT guarantee admission to the professional program in the UW-Parkside Department of Teacher Education. To be eligible to apply for admission to the Department of Teacher Education professional program students must meet the following conditions:
- Completion of 55 degree credits (transferable plus UW-Parkside credits).
a. 15 credits completed in an approved academic major for teacher education students (transferable plus UW-Parkside)
b. 27 credits completed in general education courses (transferable plus UW-Parkside). - 2.75 cumulative GPA (transferable plus UW-Parkside.)
- 3.0 cumulative GPA in early childhood courses (transferable plus UW-Parkside credits).
- Preprofessional Skills Test (PPST) scores of: Paper Version: 173 – math; 174 – writing; 175 – reading;
Computer Based Test: 318 – math; 320 – writing; 322 – reading. - English composition requirement: Grade of C or better in ENGL 101 or WTCS equivalent course.
Mathematics requirement: Grade of C or better in MATH 111 or WTCS equivalent. - The communication proficiency is met by taking COMM 101 or WTCS equivalent.
- Completion of 55 degree credits (transferable plus UW-Parkside credits).
This agreement is effective July 1, 2001, and will apply to students who complete a WTCS A.A.S. early childhood education degree after that date.
