Preservation and Access Education and Training Grants

Notice seeking proposals that provide knowledge transfer and skills development for large and small cultural institutions that serve as stewards of humanities collections. This grant program also supports educational programs that prepare the next generation of conservators and preservation professionals, as well as projects that introduce the staff of cultural institutions to new information and advances in preservation and access practices.

ACTION:
Proposals are due May 1, 2013. Awards are for up to $100,000 for two up to two years. Prior to submitting a proposal, applicants are encouraged to contact program officers who can offer advice about preparing the proposal and read draft proposals. Draft proposals should be submitted at least six weeks before the deadline.

Notice seeking projects that develop, test, and demonstrate the effectiveness of services and programs to improve the educational opportunities and achievement of preschool, elementary, and secondary Indian students. Priorities are 1) school readiness projects that provide age-appropriate educational programs and language skills to three - and four-year-old Indian students to prepare them for successful entry into school at the kindergarten school level’ and 2) college preparatory programs for secondary school students designed to increase competency and skills in challenging subject matters, including math and science, to enable Indian students to transition successfully to postsecondary education.

ACTION:
Proposals are due February 19, 2013. Approximately $2.8 million will be available for eight awards. Colleges and universities are eligible to partner with Indian educational institutions.

The resource described by this FOA focuses on access and providing a resource for biomedical research. The research resource for human organs and tissues provide a wide variety of human tissues and organs, both diseased and normal, to researchers for laboratory studies. Such samples include tissues from the nervous system, pulmonary system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, eyes, skin, bone, and cartilage.

Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program

Notice seeking proposals to encourage talented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors and professionals to become K-12 mathematics and science teachers. The Noyce Scholarship Track provides funds to institutions of higher education to support scholarships, stipends, and academic programs for undergraduate STEM majors and post-baccalaureate students holding STEM degrees who earn a teaching credential and commit to teaching in high-need K-12 school districts. The NSF Teaching Fellowship/Master Teaching Fellowship Track provides funding to support STEM professionals who enroll as NSF Teaching Fellows in master's degree programs leading to teacher certification by providing academic courses, professional development, and salary supplements while they are fulfilling a four-year teaching commitment in a high-need school district.

ACTION:
Optional letters of intent are due February 20, 2013. Full proposals are due March 20, 2013. The Principal Investigator, or at least one Co-Principal Investigator, must be a STEM faculty member in a mathematics, science, engineering or computer science department. Approximately $53 million is available for up to 56 awards.

The program will promote development of trans-disciplinary, systems - and molecular-level understanding of the life cycle of important (relevant) synthetic chemicals and materials (including nanomaterials) as these distribute and are potentially altered through use in society and interaction with the built and natural environments. The agencies jointly issue the solicitation, but will separately fund awards.
