The Housing Contracts states that neither the University nor the Office of Residence Life assumes responsibility for any and all liability, including claims, demands, costs, damages and expenses of every kind and description or damages to persons or property belonging to the resident, including property which may be lost, stolen or damaged in any way, wherever that may occur on the premises, including storage facilities.
Because many students bring personal property with them when they live on campus, including computers, cell phones, backpacks, TVs, MP3 players, gaming equipment, stereo equipment, etc. in students rooms, the cost of replacement of these items due to theft, fire, water or accidental damage can add up quickly.
Personal property insurance coverage is recommended; however, UW-Parkside does not endorse a specific insurance company.
Students are encouraged to check with their parent or guardian’s insurance agent to inquire about insurance coverage in the residence halls or to contacta local insurance agent to obtain appropriate renters or homeowners insurance for his or her needs.
