1.0 PURPOSE

A comprehensive communications infrastructure needs to be in place for instructional and informational communications during a pandemic. Establishing such an infrastructure at UW-Parkside (UWP) requires designating coordinators and backups in key positions, assuring ready access to e-mail distribution for building-managers, supervisors and all employees, and assuring lists of sites, building managers and their contact information would be available during activation of the university's emergency or crisis plan during a pandemic. The university has already provided the State Continuity of Government Director with names and contact information for top administrators and others designated to receive State Continuity Messages.

2.0 CONTINUITY MESSAGES

In an emergency, the Department of Administration (DOA) will send State Continuity Messages to a designated group of university managers. The DOA message will identify the types of persons at UWP who are to receive the message. It will be the responsibility of the university to immediately forward the State Continuity Message to the designated group of persons.

There will be three types of messages:

The primary communication channel will be e–mail. UWP will forward the message using the available group e–mail distribution lists.

In the event e–mail distribution of messages is not possible, backup communications channels will be used. Backup communication channels are as follows:
