Recognizing Performance
Generally, UW-Parkside awards scholarships for academic achievement
and/or talent to undergraduate students. While some scholarships may
require a specific major, service or leadership, financial need, or
an audition (such as in the fine arts), all of them also require demonstration
of a higher level of academic achievement or artistic performance or
promise.
Distinguish Yourself
The scholarship application requires that you write a personal statement.
It is critical that you communicate the full range of your experience,
achievement, commitment and personality in a very brief format. Selection
committees are looking for a clear picture of who you are, and where
you are headed. The Sch
olarship Office can assist you with your personal
statement.
References - required for continuing students only
Be sure to secure references from individuals who understand and support
your goals and aspirations, as well as offer an objective evaluation
of your academic achievements and potential.
For college students, faculty members are always your best references.
Please do not ask a personal friend or relative to act as
your reference. Work supervisors may be used, but only if they can offer
insight regarding your academic or intellectual achievements.
