Welcome!

The Student Health & Counseling Center provides on campus, primary care services and counseling on personal and social concerns. The staff includes nurse practitioners, a part-time registered nurse, masters prepared licensed counselors who are certified alcohol and other drug counselors and when needed, psychiatric care by referral.

The content of this web page and its Internet connections are presented for the sole purpose of educating the consumers on health and counseling topics. No content should be construed or relied upon as a medical diagnosis, instruction, or as an individual course of treatment. Mission Statement

Photo of SHCC buildingThe Mission of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Student Health and Counseling Center is to provide high quality care for the physical, emotional, and mental health care needs of students. This is accomplished by providing comprehensive intervention and preventive health education that influences positive life style choices. The staff works corroboratively with the university and surrounding community to promote holistic wellness, and believes that reinforced education and knowledge of preventive practices contributes to the achievement of academic and personal success.

Objectives

  1. Provide high quality care for the physical, emotional, and mental health needs of students.
  2. Provide comprehensive and safe intervention to students with identified needs.
  3. Deliver preventive health education programs activities that will influence positive life style choices and support retention efforts.
  4. Foster collaborative work with the university  and surrounding community.
  5. Encourage participation in community outreach activities that share the individual staff person's time and talent.

Who Can Use the Health & Counseling Center?

Health & Counseling Services are available to all registered students. Appointments are required for all counseling visits.

You can schedule a health care visit with one of the nurse practitioners.

Walk-in appointments are available Monday thru Friday. We will make every attempt to see students who are ill, the same day.

When acute medical or psychiatric care is needed, a referral can be made through the SHCC. There is no charge to the student for the office visit there are however minimal charges for medication or lab work.

No Show Fee

Missed appointments limit the accessibility of our staff to other students. If you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, it is important that you call us to cancel or reschedule. If you fail to attend an appointment without notifying us, you will be charged a "no-show" fee of $10.00 (assessed to your student account).
