The purpose of the U.S. Department of Education Title III Grant Program is to help eligible institutions strengthen their academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability as they strive to serve low income, "high risk" students.
In late 2009, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside received a five-year, $1.67 million grant to address the aforementioned goals, and to focus on providing more rigorous programs and services to students (especially freshmen), a more comprehensive communication system to enhance program effectiveness, and an increased capacity to reinvest tuition income that results from greater retention rates.
