The Theatre Arts Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside will make supporting the arts a profitable proposition for its patrons. The department's Great Theatre Raffle 2008 offers a major cash prize and tickets to theatres throughout the region.
"We are giving away a $3,000 cash prize and more than $1,500 in theatre tickets," said Theatre Arts Chair Dean Yohnk. "The money we raise from the Great Theatre Raffle funds our S.T.A.G.E. Club and are used for production enhancement, community outreach projects, guest artist residencies, and talent scholarships for theatre students."
Yohnk said along with the grand prize, 15 addition prizes are available. These include tickets to the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre and the Court Theatre in Chicago, the Broadway in Milwaukee Series, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Milwaukee Rep, Milwaukee Shakespeare Theatre, and Milwaukee's Skylight Opera Theatre. Tickets for the Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson and the Racine Theatre Guild also are available as are Parkside Theatre coupon books.
Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. They can be purchased from UW-Parkside Theatre Arts students and staff or through the Fine Arts Box Office located on the ground floor of the Communication Arts Building weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets order forms also are available by calling 262-595-2564 or by accessing boxoffice@uwp.edu via email.
The drawing takes place Saturday, Dec. 13, following the final curtain of the 7:30 p.m. performance of William Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale." Ticket holders need not be present to win.
Dr. Yohnk said the Great Theatre Raffle is the department's only fundraiser of the year. He added that 100 percent of the profits from the raffle directly benefit theatre arts students.
