More than a dozen theatre patrons had reason to enjoy Parkside Theatre's final performance of Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale" just a bit more than those seated around them. That's because they were among the winners of the Great Theatre Raffle 2008.

"I've always felt that it paid to support the arts but I didn't think it would ever be this profitable," said Dave Buchanan who won the raffle's $3,000 grand prize. "I really enjoy coming to Parkside Theatre's productions and this will allow me to buy plenty of tickets to future plays."

Buchanan said he's looking forward to seeing the theatre company's spring productions of "The Seagull" and especially "The Music Man."

Other raffle winners took home ticket packages valued at more than $100. They included Norman Moses who won two 4-ticket flex passes to the Racine Theatre Guild, Terrie Annachinno who received two 5-show passes to Racine's 6th Street Theatre, Jeni Heim who won both four Milwaukee Chamber Theatre Passes and two Victory Gardens Theatre Tickets, Edie Jacobs who claimed two Fireside Theatre Dinner Show Tickets, Aimee Miller who won a pair of tickets to the Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre, Robert Middendorf who won two theatre tickets to the Milwaukee Rep, and Catherine Jacobs who won two Northlight Theatre Tickets. Two 4-person passes to Parkside Theatre spring shows were won by Ruth Ausloos, Bob Canary, Renee Meyers, Marlene Lamp, Elizabeth Hoida, Judy Hoyt, and Ellen Huch.

Theatre Arts Department Chair Dr. Dean Yohnk congratulated the raffle winners and thanked everyone who purchased raffle tickets, saying that 100 percent of the profits from the raffle directly benefit theatre arts students.

"The raffle funds our S.T.A.G.E. Club and the money is used for production enhancement, community outreach projects, guest artist residencies, and talent scholarships for theatre students," Yohnk said.

The drawing was held Saturday, Dec. 13.
