The Theatre Arts Dept. at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside has launched its annual "Great Theatre Raffle." The raffle features 16 prizes valued at more than $3,500 including tickets to Chicago and Milwaukee area theatres and a cash grand prize of $2,000.
"This is our only major fundraiser of the year and the money raised by the Great Theatre Raffle directly benefits students," said UW-Parkside Theatre Arts Chair and Artistic Director Dr Dean Yohnk. "It helps us to produce shows, bring in professional guest artists, sponsor special theatre events, and support scholarships and awards given by the department every year. Without raffle money, many of the important academic and production activities we do would cease to exist."
In addition to the cash prize, Great Theatre Raffle participants can win tickets and ticket packages to great theatre venues throughout the region, each valued at $100. Patron can win tickets to Chicago's Court Theatre, named "the most consistently excellent theatre company in America" by the Wall Street Journal; the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre located in the city's Historic Third Ward, The Milwaukee Rep, the Skylight Opera Theatre in Milwaukee, Fireside Dinner Theatre in Fort Atkinson, the Racine Theatre Guild, Racine's Sixth Street Theatre, and Parkside Theatre.
Great Theatre Raffle tickets can be purchased by calling 262-595-2564 and requesting an order form. Tickets also can be purchased at the Communication Arts box office or from any Theatre Arts students, faculty, and staff member. Buying tickets from your "favorite" theatre company member helps the seller win special sales prizes.
The prize drawing takes place Saturday, Oct. 31 following the final performance of Neil Simon's "Brighton Beach Memoirs." You do not have to be present to win.
