Oct. 22: "HIV/AIDS in College" with UW-Parkside Peer Health Educators, noon, Fine Arts Gallery
The UW-Parkside Peer Health Educators student organization speaks about HIV/AIDS both in the college and the general population. Students will share facts about how to protect yourself, where to get tested, how to reduce stigma and myths, and facts about the disease. Informational pamphlets and condoms will be available free of charge.

Join UW-Parkside faculty, staff, and students in a discussion of Peter Hawkins' classic essay.
Oct. 26: "The AIDS Quilt Songbook" with the UW-Parkside Opera Workshop, 7:30 p.m., Fine Arts Gallery, The Rita
Performed by the UW-Parkside Opera Workshop under the direction of Ami Bouterse, this performance features Alvaro Garcia on viola and Fumi Nishikiori on piano with narration by Tara Pedersen.

Oct 29: "Literature in the Plague Years: Confronting Silence with Words" with English Professor Carole Vopat, noon, Fine Arts Gallery, The Rita
Professor Vopat discusses literary art as a first response to the AIDS crisis, illustrating with her students through readings of poetry and fiction the use of words to counter silence; first to protest and confront, later to comfort and grieve; above all, like the quilt, to bear witness to the lives and names of the fallen, that they continue to exist in memory, through time, and beyond death.
Oct. 31: "Table Talk: HIV/AIDS in the LGBTQ Community" with the UW-Parkside LGBTQ Resource Center, noon, Fine Arts Gallery, The Rita
This session focuses on HIV and AIDS in the LGBTQ Community. Student facilitators present questions to engage the audience in thoughtful discussion of the issues.
