Student Leader of the Month

November/December-Terrence Shaw

SLOM Terrence Shaw

What is your favorite quote? “Don’t bring Kool-Aid to a gym party”

Can you recommend a good book and why? Harry Potter, it has all the qualities of a good book: adventure, suspense, mystery, romance, action, and fantasy... That's why Harry Potter is the most successful book series of ALL TIME...

Who is your role model and why? I am inspired by anyone that fights through adversity and mischief on a regular basis... No matter how much they are hit and pushed down, you know that they will get up and continue to fight and give 100%...

What leadership skills or accomplishment(s) are you most proud of? I am most proud of how great mu first year as a resident advisor was... My first year as a RA has been my best experience at Parkside. This was my first experience working with a diverse staff and population I learned from this experience the importance of diversity and how diverse Parkside really is. This experience has helped me develop very important leadership skills that will be beneficial to me in my personal and professional endeavors.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your leadership position? A rewarding aspect of student leadership to me is knowing I have an opportunity to make the college experience for other students better. Knowing that students appreciate the service and help that I provide is most rewarding.

What do you want your legacy at UW-Parkside to be? I want people to remember me for being a very giving person and truly contributing to making UW-Parkside a more inclusive place for everyone.

If you were recruiting students to attend UW-Parkside, what would you tell them? Parkside is truly committed to student development and leadership... All students have an opportunity to really make a difference and grow in a variety of ways... Your experience at Parkside will equip you with skills and education that prepares students for the future.

Why do you think it is important to get involved? The best way to meet people is to be involved with the things that unite the students.  When you get involved you have an opportunity to meet people that you probably would have never had the chance to know.  These are some of the people that you will develop relationships with and will be apart of your life for a long time.

How can other students get involved with your organization(s)? If students want to be involved with PSGA you can come to our meetings every Friday at Noon in Molinaro D137 or stop by the student government office located opposite of Wyllie Market, or visit the student government webpage.
