UW-P Bike/Utility Vehicle Patrol
The UW-Parkside University Police Bike Patrol Unit was established
in 1995. The ATV patrol was established in 2004 and in 2007 the utility vehicle (Kawasaki Mule) was added. In addition to the
academic buildings, the nearly 700-acre UW-Parkside campus is an
ecological showplace of mature oak and maple forests, restored prairies,
waterways and wildlife habitats. The campus also has a national cross
country course. The bike and patrols allow officers to quickly and efficiently
patrol and respond to areas of campus inaccessible to vehicles and
impractical for foot patrols.
The bike and utility vehicle patrols are also helpful at large
events such as fairs and sporting events. The bike and utility vehicle patrols are a visible
and approachable means of patrol which encourages communication and
cooperation with the UW-Parkside community in the prevention and detection
of crime.
