Utilities Outage
Should a major utility outage occur during regular business hours, go to a safe
location and notify Facilities Management at 262-595-2228. At all other times, call the UW-Parkside Police at 262-595-2911.
Electrical Outage
- Evacuate the building immediately if the fire alarm sounds or upon notification by authorized emergency personnel
- In laboratory buildings, fume hoods do not operate during a power outage and
most laboratories should not be used until the ventilation is properly restored
Ventilation Problem
If you smell odors coming from the ventilation system:
- Immediately notify Facilities Management
- Stop all operations immediately
- Evacuate the building
- If smoke is present, pull the fire alarm, evacuate the building, then call the UW-Parkside Police from a safe location or use an emergency box
Natural Gas Release or Leak:
If you smell natural gas:
- Stop all operations immediately
- Do not operate light switches
- Evacuate immediately
- Call the UW-Parkside Police from a safe location or use an emergency box
Flooding/Plumbing Failure
- Stop using all electrical equipment
- Avoid contact with the water
- Evacuate immediately
Elevator Failure
If you are trapped in an elevator, use the emergency telephone inside the elevator to call for assistance or press the elevator alarm inside the elevator to signal for help.
