The Garden of Kathy and Keith M.
Apparently Kathy understands only one way of doing things: Outstandingly! As one of UW-Parkside’s Outstanding Graduates in 2002, Kathy obviously has no trouble translating her skills to other venues, namely, her garden.
In five short years Kathy, and her husband, Keith, have transformed their home in a new subdivision into an I-can’t-wait-to-get-home garden. Backing up to a nature preserve, they have created an oasis that combines the best of both worlds: a completely chic suburban home landscape--with a tip of the hat to the nature that surrounds them. With a keen eye for design, Kathy and Keith have truly uncovered the secret for marrying house to garden.
Kathy’s specialty is mixed borders, with shrubs and perennials out-doing each other in artful complement. But giving in to “that urge to plant,” as Kathy calls it, she manages to kick in a liberal dose of annuals every year. The result is constant color and variety. Add to that Keith’s meticulous lawn care, and you’ll see why their garden could easily double as a backdrop for a movie set. Sound like your cup of tea? Well, then you’ve got to see this garden!
