Position Location: Southeastern, WI

The University of Wisconsin Parkside invites applicants for two (2) Tenure-Track Assistant Professor positions in Exercise Science within our Health, Exercise Science and Sport Management department in the College of Natural and Health Sciences.

The start date is August 24, 2015.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Earned terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed. D. or related degree) with specialization in the exercise science/fitness management, required by the time of appointment. All But Dissertation (ABD) status candidates will be considered for a one-year appointment to a Lecturer position with potential conversion to a tenure-track Assistant Professor position possible if the terminal degree is completed by June 1, 2016.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses as assigned by the HESM Department in the exercise science field. Courses that will be taught by these two positions include: Biomechanics, Physiology of Exercise, Fitness Assessment and Prescription, Scientific Principles of Strength and Conditioning, Program Design and Exercise Techniques, and Research Methods in Exercise Science.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain an active service agenda in the department, campus, community and profession.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain an active research agenda.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, maintaining high expectations of undergraduate education and developing student professionalism.

  • Evidence of ability to teach additional courses related to exercise science and applied health science fields including Sport and Fitness Psychology, Lifetime Wellness, and/or Sport and Fitness Nutrition.

  • Evidence of ability to develop potential fieldwork (internship) placement sites.

  • Experience in advising undergraduate students in exercise science, applied health sciences or a related field of study.

  • Evidence of ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

  • Experience in the exercise science or fitness industries

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include: teaching, advising undergraduate students majoring in exercise science, supervising fieldwork (internship) placements, scholarly research activity, and participating in departmental/campus/community/professional service.

The incumbent will have a teaching load of 24 credits per academic year.
