The University of Wisconsin Parkside currently has two vacancies for Custodians on 1stshift in Residence Life. One position is scheduled from 8-4:30 pm Monday through Friday. The second position is scheduled from 8-4:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday.

These are classified, full-time, non-represented positions.

Job Duties: The primary responsibilities for the custodian position is: maintenance of residence halls and furnishings; maintenance of custodial equipment and supply closets; performing detailed cleaning as needed; recognizing and taking appropriate corrective action; performing required routine maintenance and preparation for special events. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The Custodian position requires many physical activities and excessive mobility. Abilities include the physical strength and stamina to perform necessary work; lift up to 75 lbs; bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push/pull objects of various size, shovel; move furniture, walk long distances; and work on your feet for extended periods of time. In addition, Custodians must know proper methods, materials and equipment used in a variety of building cleaning, sanitizing and preservation work; perform repetitive tasks; be able to use basic computer applications including email; read work and equipment instructions, schedules and warning signs; learn from oral instruction by listening and asking questions; learn new equipment, functions and processes; work within a team environment and get along professionally with others including staff and students.

Salary: Pay will be based on the rules that apply to compensation upon transfer, reinstatement or voluntary demotion transactions. Pay will not be less than the minimum of the 03-08 pay range, $11.511/hour. A six month permissive probation period may be required.
