Area of Competition: Employee Referral Service/Transfer/Demotion/Reinstatement

Job Duties: Under General Supervision, this position performs difficult and complex technical work related to environmental control and HVAC systems. This position has primary responsibility to maintain air conditioning and refrigeration systems as assigned. The position also works with the energy management system and must be able to effectively develop EMS programs to connect to and control equipment they have primary responsibility to maintain. This position also works directly with engineering firms and private contractors in the development and installation of these environmental control and HVAC systems. This position is also required to obtain and maintain required State certifications to work with refrigerants, maintain a valid driver license and is required to be listed on the Department “on-Call List” and is subject to be called in to respond to facility emergencies on nights and weekends. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge and ability to operate and maintain computerized Energy Management Systems (EMS); maintain centralized chiller operations, including cooling towers, pumps, water treatment; knowledge to maintain pneumatic and electronic control systems; knowledge of commercial/industrial type building mechanical systems; knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning systems and equipment; knowledge of the usage of hand tools, test equipment and calibration. Ergonomic requirements include the ability to walk, bend, climb ladders and stairs, lift objects in tight places, drive, and operate a computer keyboard/type frequently.

Qualifications: Must have a general education in maintenance of heating and ventilation systems, troubleshooting steam systems, calibration of control systems components; experience in refrigeration and air conditioning systems; possess an EPA Refrigerant, Handling, Reclamation and Recovery Certification within 6 months of employment, have a valid driver license, be at least 18 years of age and have a high school degree or equivalency

Salary: Pay will be based on the rules that apply to compensation upon transfer, reinstatement or voluntary demotion transactions. Pay will not be less than the minimum of the 03-15 pay range, $19.298/hour. A six month permissive probation period may be required.
