The Psychology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Counseling/Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology, beginning Fall 2016

Qualifications 

Required:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselor Education, or closely related specialty.  
  • Demonstrated specialization in Health Psychology.
  • Demonstrated promise as an instructor of record, including evidence of teaching effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated promise as a scholar.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision.

Preferred: 

  • APA-accredited graduate program and pre-doctoral internship, or CACREP-accredited doctoral program.
  • Experience teaching Health Psychology at either the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Licensed or license eligible as either a Psychologist or Professional Counselor in the State of Wisconsin within 2 years of hire
  • Experience teaching Personality Psychology (undergraduate), Introductory Psychology (undergraduate), an advanced elective consistent with interests and training (undergraduate or graduate).
  • Experience in program development
  • Experience in academic advising
  • Experience working effectively with students and staff from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include a teaching load of 24 credits per academic year in undergraduate and graduate courses (including Health Psychology); research and scholarly activity; advising and supervising students; providing service to the department and university; and working collaboratively with the University Community. This person will be working with a diverse population and non-traditional students.
  • The individual will be centrally involved in developing, implementing and staffing a planned M.S. Program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a Health Psychology concentration.

The University and Area

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is a comprehensive campus of the University of Wisconsin System with approximately 4800 students, 120 faculty, and 70 instructional academic staff offering 33 undergraduate majors and 3 master's degrees in 22 academic departments. The campus is located between the cities of Kenosha and Racine in southeastern Wisconsin, within the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor. 

The university is situated on 700 acres of prairie and woodland approximately two miles west of Lake Michigan. Consisting of 15 buildings, the coherence and unity of the original campus design within its natural landscape has been sustained over four decades of development. Recent additions include a renovated and expanded student center, a 250 bed suite-style residence hall, and a greatly expanded and renovated center for the arts and humanities.
