DNA Day

Students from Burlington High School and REAL High School made their way to Parkside to learn from our professors about DNA. The morning started off with a warm welcome for the students before breaking off into separate learning groups. The groups then rotated between three different seminars: an information session, enzyme catalysis, and DNA electrophoresis. They participated in two short experiments and received information about majoring in biology and the biology program at Parkside. The day ended after the students completed a survey about the sessions that they attended. Students were also welcome to stay and enjoy lunch at the Brickstone. This was a great opportunity for high school students to get a better understanding of science courses in college, as well as have fun and meet some of our professors.
