3. UW-Parkside T-shirt (received during Ranger Day Orientation)
4. Name of your Ranger Host (letter received in August)
5. Writing Utensil and note book
6. Wear your UW-Parkside T-shirt (received during summer Orientation)
First-year students are expected to attend the Ranger Welcome. Ranger Welcome
is the first day of school for UW-Parkside's first-year students. This program will introduce
you to the expectations and requirements for success at UW-Parkside. Students will
experience their first college mini-course during the day.
The exciting events planned include:
Academic Convocation
Academic Convocation is an introduction to the academic
culture and expectations of UW-Parkside.
Ranger Read
Students are expected to have read MAUS II: Survivors' Tale. This will
assist you in many of your academic skills classes. Students should have
received the book during summer Ranger Day (when freshman register).
The book should be read prior to Ranger Welcome to enable you to
have already read an assigned book that you will use in upcoming
classes at UW-Parkside.
University 101
University 101 is the first course all UW-Parkside freshman take.
During
the course students
are
introduce to the
academic expectations of
university life.
Freshman will learn about critical analysis,
technology and faculty expectations.
University 102
University 102 is the second course all UW-Parkside Freshman take. During the
course
students are introduced to co-curricular expectations of university life.
Electronic Resources
As a citizen of the UW-Parkside community, each member must understand
the electronic and technological resources available. This session will
introduce D2L, Ranger Mail, Information Literacy, Inter library loans,
and much more.
Ultimate Road Trip
Want a "Real" job when you graduate? Come get the inside scoop
on what to do throughout college to make yourself the ideal candidate
when you graduate. This is a dynamic, interactive presentation that
will help you own your college experience to create the best
possible result-a degree and a great career.
Dr. Joe Martin and Tricks of the Grade
Tricks of the Grade is a
motivational program which outlines practical real life
tips for university success. Dr. Martin always end his presentation with
the offer to pay students for a successful first-year.
Ultimate Money Skills
This interactive, presentation helps students recognize that the choices they make
about money while in college can have a direct impact on their future
financial success and gives them the information they need
to make better decisions going forward.
Guided Campus Tour
Guided tours will be provided to ensure students learn firsthand about the campus resources.
In addition, students will be able to find all the hidden offices across campus.
Soccer Game
Ranger Pride is a tradition that is celebrated in many ways at UW-Parkside.
One way is to support our division three sports teams.
