Sylvia Beyer
Sylvia Beyer, Professor of Psychology, will serve as one of three panelists at the Oct. 9 Women's Leadership Breakfast and Panel Discussion sponsored by the Executives' Club of Chicago. Using the theme "Thriving in the New Economy-The Woman's Advantage," the program looks at how the scarcity of women in board rooms and executives suites led to the flawed decision making that precipitated the Great Recession of 2008 and how women are uniquely qualified to fix the current economic challenges. Sylvia's presentation is titled "Women's Strengths: A Summary of Research Evidence" and draws on research she conducted on the self-perceptions of women in male-dominated fields which was funded by a National Science Foundation grant she received in 2000. Some 600-800 executives are expected to attend along with local media.
