The University of Wisconsin-Parkside's popular Arts Alive! performance series has announced a sparkling line-up of 10 shows for 2009-2010. With a playbill including music from Broadway to bluegrass, Chicago comedy, comic and inspirational spoken word, and elegant dance, patrons will want to reserve tickets now.
"We're calling the 2009-2010 season 'Then and Now' because we're offering a stellar mix of audience favorites and tossing in some surprises," said Arts Alive! Director Dwight Vaught. "With such a diverse line-up and prices that make every show affordable, we think this will be one of our best seasons ever."
Vaught said there's even a free pre-season event. The Pennsylvania duo of Scott McKenna and Nyke Van Wyk (www.scottmckenna.com) perform Sept. 9. Tickets for this show are limited and must be requested in advance.
The Arts Alive! season opens Sept. 22 with Neil Berg's "100 Years of Broadway." Featuring a century of hits, there's music from "West Side Story," "Phantom of the Opera," "Man of La Mancha," "Rent," and dozens more. Plus, local singers can audition to sing with the stars.
