The Artisan Craftsman Establishment's (ACE) annual Art Raffle will be held Thursday, Nov. 29, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Upper Main Place of Wyllie Hall. ACE dedicates itself to the promotion, support, and advancement of art students at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and the surrounding area.
Michelle Sharp, president of ACE, has been a member of the club for two years and comments on the successful history of the fundraiser and who benefits from the funds raised.
"There are always a lot of donations to this event," she says. "And the profits go towards field trips, awards, and scholarships given out at our annual Student Show."
If the club raises enough money, they will be able to hire a professional judge to critique the students work at this end of the year showcase, allowing them a true gallery experience.
The art work that will be raffled off is usually donated from the members of the campus community. Students, professors, and staff submit a variety of artistic media, including paintings, drawings, prints, sketches, crafts, and sculptures.
"There is such a variety of artistic abilities that the students here have, and I know that the raffle is definitely something that shows this," Sharp says.
For the chance to have a piece of fine art in your own home, join ACE in this artistic tradition. Raffle tickets are available for $1 each or six for $5. The drawing begins at 5 p.m. You do not have to be present to win.
