When Elizabeth Andersen graduated in 1982 from Tremper High School in Kenosha, Wis., she decided to stay close to home for the next step in her education. She chose UW-Parkside to pursue a business management major with a marketing concentration, and then continued at the university for her MBA.
The result of those decisions: Andersen is a senior vice president of Charleston|Orwig, Inc., a communications agency based in Hartland, Wis. Andersen joined Charleston|Orwig in 1997. The firm manages public, media, stakeholder and government perceptions for Fortune 500 companies and helps them develop national public affairs and corporate social responsibility campaigns. Charleston|Orwig's clients include Smithfield Foods, Miller Brewing Company, Applebee's International, and PPL Corporation.
Andersen began her master's degree while she was employed at J.I. Case Company in Racine, Wis. "I chose UW-Parkside for two reasons," she said. "The convenience of the night-class schedule that complemented my work schedule and the ability to waive out of select classes since I had completed my undergraduate degree at UW-Parkside."
In addition to her responsibilities at Charleston|Orwig, Andersen is a member of the Public Affairs Council and Business for Social Responsibility.
