Career Position: Northwestern Mutual Financial Rep
Discipline. Experience. Excellence. Greg Fischer learned how to apply each of these to his college life. In turn, he now applies these skills to his professional life. Greg credits University of Wisconsin -Parkside's faculty, as well as the "real life" opportunities with local business professionals, as two key factors in his success as a college student: "Collectively, my professors really challenged us to do our best; we also had a lot of interaction with local business owners working on marketing and business planning projects. This experience made it real for me and gave me the chance to see what it's like outside the classroom environment."
Many projects and assignments in the upper level business classes prepared Greg for day-to-day interaction with clients. In addition, the "Executive in Residence" program where CEOs come in and talk to students about their experiences gave Greg examples of the kind of business professional he'd like to be. The different business owners, CEOs, and entrepreneurs "made it real" for Greg: "each person who came in shared what worked for them and they'd do differently. Their guidance helped clarify for me how I'd like to run my business and also made it easier for me to choose a career path."
Greg Fischer enjoyed the opportunity he had to "test drive" the Financial Representative career as a Financial Representative Intern at Cornerstone Financial Group-Oak Creek. Greg learned about Northwestern Mutual's Internship program through a posting on Ranger Track, a University of Wisconsin-Parkside's website that lists job, internship, and volunteer opportunities.
He transitioned from Intern to full-time representative in June, 2010 upon graduating from University of Wisconsin-Parkside with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management with a focus on Finance. Greg's internship experience gave him the clarity he needed to determine his career path, as he stated, "I didn't want to work in just any Wall Street firm, and I didn't want a 'job.' I wanted a career that aligned with my personal goals of helping people and the independence of creating my own path. Northwestern Mutual's strength and values of honesty, integrity, and always doing the right thing is a perfect fit."
Greg Fischer's experience with the Marine Corps has also helped guide him in his career with Northwestern Mutual. The discipline Greg learned as a Marine has proven an asset while managing his practice, choosing his personal path to financial independence, and helping others choose their own paths. Greg's resume with the Marines includes 3 tours in Iraq as well as various commendable promotions and leadership awards all of which ensure that Greg will be a positive influence for his clients. He can be trusted to recommend financial solutions that will truly fit his clients' needs and will ultimately help them seek the financial security they desire.
