Jeffrey Alexander
Jeffrey Alexander, Professor of History and Interim Associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, had the article "Civilization and Enlightenment: A Study in Computer Gaming and History Education" accepted for publication by the Midwest World History Association's "Middle Ground Journal." Alexander's teaching project involving the incorporation of the computer game "Civilization IV" into his Ancient World History course which took place during spring semester 2010. Data from the study included student comments, classroom feedback, and student responses to an exit survey. He presented his findings at the Midwest World History Association's Fall 2010 conference at Loyola University, together with an undergraduate UW-Parkside student who worked on an Independent Study project involving historical content and accuracy in computer game design. Jeff said their combination faculty-student panel was well received.
