U.S./China/HK business law lecture Oct. 5

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Global Education Center offers students and area businesspeople a first-hand look at the differences between corporate law in the United States and two major Asian economies. The program "A Comparison of Company Laws in the U.S., China, and Hong Kong" featuring Hong Kong Baptist University Professor Alex Lau takes place Monday, Oct. 5.

Professor Lau draws on expertise gained from successful completion of undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Hong Kong, City of London

Polytechnic, Southern Methodist University, Peking University, and Harvard University. His professional resume includes work with Johnson, Stokes & Master one of Asia's oldest and largest law firms before it combined with Mayer Brown, Gallant Y. T. Ho & Co. a leading Hong Kong banking and finance firm, Baker & McKenzie which describes itself as "the world's leading global law firm," and the London office of Linklaters, a member of the so-called "Magic Circle" of prominent UK law firms with offices in 19 countries. Professor Lau is licensed to practice law in Hong Kong, England and Wales, Australia, and Singapore.       

 "A Comparison of Company Laws in the U.S., China, and Hong Kong" with Professor Alex Lau is held in room D139 of Molinaro Hall starting at noon. The program is sponsored by the UW-Parkside Global Education Center, the School of Business & Technology, and the university's Lecture and Fine Arts Committee. It is free and open to everyone.
