Oct. 22 program examines journalism, social media
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Communication Dept. brings journalist Tannette Johnson-Elie to the Kenosha campus Thursday, Oct. 22. A veteran reporter and award-winning columnist, Johnson-Elie shares her insights on the use of social media during a presentation in room 101 of Greenquist Hall beginning at 7 p.m.
After nearly two decades as a journalist, Johnson-Elie recently ventured into the exciting new realm of online social media. She is particularly excited by the potential of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, blogs, and other Web-based applications to help minority businesses and organizations flourish. Prior to setting this new direction, she served for more than 18 years as a reporter and an award-winning columnist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel with an emphasis on reporting about minority-owned businesses. More information about Johnson-Elie is available by visiting http://www.site.tannettejohnsonelieonline.com/ on the web.
This forum on social media with Tannette Johnson-Elie is free and open to all students, faculty, and the public. It is sponsored by the UW-Parkside Communication Dept., the Parkside Association of Communicators, and the university's Lecture and Fine Arts Committee.
