UW-Parkside seeks 2012 alumni award nominees

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Alumni Association is soliciting nominations for its distinguished alumni awards. Through the association, the university annually recognizes outstanding professional accomplishments and exemplary volunteer service by its graduates. The awards are bestowed during spring semester commencement ceremonies.

Two awards are given: The Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award which is earned by graduates who excel in their professions. In 2011, Ontario Cancer Institute and Toronto General Research Institutesenior scientist Dr. Jeffrey Medin ('85, biological sciences) and insurance industry executive Dean Sivley ('80, Business) were honored.

The association's Distinguished Alumni Service Award is presented to individuals who demonstrate outstanding contributions to their local community and/or the university. Tessa McKinney ('08, sociology/anthropology & Spanish), founder of "Foundations of Life," an organization focused on reducing teenage pregnancies, received the award in 2011.

Nominees must hold a bachelor's or master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The nomination deadline is Feb. 15, 2012.
