The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Arts Alive! series proudly presents singer/songwriter Karla Bonoff in concert Friday, Feb. 3, 2012. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Main Stage Theatre of the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities located at 900 Wood Rd. in Kenosha.

Starting with an audition for Elektra Records at the age of 16, Bonoff was a regular at LA's Troubadour nightclub at the same time James Taylor, Elton John, and Jackson Browne were playing at the legendary venue. Linda Ronstadt was soon singing Bonoff's songs turning the haunting "Someone to Lay Down Beside Me" into a hit and winning a Grammy with Aaron Neville for Bonoff's song "All My Life." She scored majors hit of her own with "Personally," "Somebody's Eyes" from the soundtrack of the movie "Footloose," and "Standing Right Next to Me" from the "8 Seconds" soundtrack.

"Karla Bonoff has such a distinctive voice both as a singer and as a songwriter. Her music gets into your head and you find yourself humming the tune and singing the words to yourself?at least, I do," said Arts Alive! series director Stephanie Sirovatka-Marshall. "Many people have told me they are particularly looking forward to this concert."

Now in what she describes as "semi-retirement," Bonoff is playing only one other date in Wisconsin during this trip before heading to Japan at the end of February. Sirovatka-Marshall said this may be one of the few opportunities those who appreciate her music will have to see Bonoff in a live performance.

Tickets for Karla Bonoff's Feb. 3 show are $19.50 ($15 for students) and can be purchased online at www.uwp.edu keyword: tickets, by calling 262-595-2307, or by visiting the Campus Concierge desk in the UW-Parkside Student Center.
