Friday: Assessment for Student Learning
Friday, Jan. 20, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside welcomes nationally recognized academic assessment consultant Dr. Susan Hatfield to campus. Beginning at noon, she will facilitate workshops on academic assessment for departments and programs.
A Visiting Scholar with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), Dr. Hatfield is a leader of the HLC's Academy for Student Assessment. Her visit is sponsored by the Provost's Office and is being organized by members of the AAAC, TLC, OIE, and our Student Learning Outcomes group (our participating team in the HLC Academy for Student Assessment).
Friday at noon, Dr. Hatfield gives a presentation on academic assessment in the Student Center Cinema that is open to everyone on campus. She then leads workshops at 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. on developing program learning goals and assessment plans, and on the gathering, analyzing, and reporting of assessment data. The workshops take place in the Galbraith Room of Wyllie Hall. For the assessment workshops, departments and programs are asked to send teams to attend consisting of your designated assessment liaison and department chair as well as other interested department members.
The workshops are intended to facilitate the completion of department/program assessment worksheets which representatives from the Academic Achievement Assessment Committee and the Student Learning Outcomes group recently distributed to department chairs to facilitate ongoing academic assessment.
