The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites you to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., tonight during a special program starting at 7 p.m. This year's theme: "A Message for Every Generation" will be amplified through speeches, music, and memories all taking place in the Main Stage Theatre of the new Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities and all free of charge.
During the program, K-12 students from the Kenosha Unified School District and the Racine Unified School District receive awards for their artwork and essays. UW-Parkside Office of Multicultural Student Affairs Director Damian Evans called tonight's program "an exciting opportunity for?local community youth to share the influence that Dr. King has had on their lives."
In addition, the UW-Parkside Service Award will be given to a deserving university student or student organization and two area citizens who have given exemplary service to others will receive 2012 UW-Parkside Community Service Awards.
"A Message for Every Generation," UW-Parkside's celebration of Martin Luther King Jr., is sponsored by the university's Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. The program is open to the public.
