UW-Parkside Head of Archives Anna Stadick reports we "have reason to be very proud of our school and our archives."
A photo submitted to the "PhotoOp" section of the Society of American Archivists (SAA) "Archival Outlook" newsletter was selected and recently published with credit being given to our archives department. The Wisconsin winter photo was part of a collection of glass plate negatives?literally photographic negatives on 4x5 plates of glass?taken around 1900 by a Kenosha photographer. It was donated to UW-Parkside by Carthage College through the hands of their first archivist Abbi Brown who completed her graduate school fieldwork here about two years ago.
"Melissa Olson processed the collection at about the same time I was flipping through my copy of 'Archival Outlook' at home," Stadick said and so I thought that we should really submit some of our material for possible publication.
Stadick called it, "a little victory, but still pretty thrilling for us, especially because SAA is the national organization of our profession."
Archives is located in the D2 Level of the UW-Parkside Library. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Tuesday 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
