New Web Page for Faculty and Staff

For the past year, many people on the University of Wisconsin-Parkside campus have been designing and creating a new web page just for faculty and staff. The idea originated in the former Web Strategies Team (WST).

UW-Parkside Web Coordinator Elizabeth McGee worked with former student Beatrice Williams on several designs, one of which was selected by the WST. From there, the Integrated Marketing Team (IMT) reviewed the page and revisions were made based on that team's input. The page was presented to faculty, academic staff and classified staff governance. At each step in the review process various pieces were added or revised.

The original plan for the page was to give faculty and staff a convenient place to go for campus news and events, and an easy place to find links to various administrative areas of the university including business services and human resources.

"The new page also allows the university's main home page to focus on two key areas: student recruitment and community partnerships," said John Mielke of University Relations. "I made the change this morning, set my preferences to the new page so I see the campus news and events first thing every morning."

Both the WST and the IMT wanted the page to do more than just broadcast news and events. Faculty and staff will find a pixilated photo of a colleague with a little bit of information.

"Even though we are all part of the same team, sometimes it's challenging to know who's on the team, especially with someone new," Mielke said. "The 'Get to Know' section should be fun as well as informative."

Faculty and staff are encouraged to visit the page. Suggestions for content or revisions should be made to Mielke in University Relations.
