Spring semester Safe Zone training starts in Feb.
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside LGBTQ Resource Center has announced dates for spring semester Safe Zone training. Safe Zone is a four-hour session that addresses how to be a better ally to the LGBTQ--lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer-- communities on campus, ways to be supportive of the LGBTQ and allied students, faculty, and staff on campus, and tools to educate yourself and those around you.
"It's exciting for me to say that currently we have over 150 Safe Zone trained faculty, staff, and students on our campus!" LGBTQ Resource Center Director Ana Guerriero. "Since we started offering training in 2009, over 300 individuals have participated in this training."
The training schedule is:
Safe Zone training session participants are asked to RSVP by accessing lgbtq@uwp.edu by email. Room locations are sent as a confirmation of your RSVP. Please note: At least four participants are needed for a training class or the session is canceled.
Friday, Feb. 17, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (lunch is provided) Tuesday, Feb. 21 & Thursday, Feb. 22, 4-6 p.m. (you must attend both sessions to complete training) Wednesday, March 14, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (lunch is provided) Monday, April 2 & Wednesday, April 4, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. (you must attend both sessions to complete training)
