Bilingual event brings diversity leadership praise

By Katrina Neveri

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside recently received praise for its second annual Bilingual Open House. The event, held Saturday, Jan. 21, featured diversity consultant and motivational speaker Leonor McCall-Rodriguez.

McCall-Rodriguez commended UW-Parkside for its outstanding diversity leadership.

"Education is a passion of our team and it was energizing to see how committed you all are in your work and the amazing resources your campus offers diversity students as they prepare for success," McCall-Rodriguez stated.

"Your staff, faculty, and volunteers were wonderful in offering information and walking families through what they need to know about admissions," she added. "I know how unfamiliar and challenging the whole process can be and celebrate that you have Mirella Rivera and other Hispanic professionals on your team."

Chancellor Debbie Ford was personally thanked for her leadership.

"I applaud what you are doing at UWP. Your team is clearly motivated and that is a tribute to your leadership."

The full letter is available on the web site.

The UW-Parkside Office of Admissions and New Student Services reports 82 people attended the event, doubling the number attending last year's Bilingual Open House.
