The idea for a monthly opportunity for UW-Parkside alumni to gather for socializing and networking came dashing out of a brainstorming session last fall populated by members of the UW-Parkside Alumni Association (UWPAA) Board's Social Committee. It has rolled with spirit from the start and the next event is coming up March 1.
UW-Parkside alumni warmed to the idea right away as two dozen of them, along with friends and members of the sponsoring UWPAA Board, assembled for complimentary appetizers and Happy Hour-priced drinks at the 20 & Oakes Bar and Grill in the Racine Marriott in early December.
It's been growing ever since, with the event venue rotating on the first Thursday evening of each month between the Marriott and Pazzo restaurant in Kenosha, according to Sabrina Morgan-Hill. "And we're excited about the possibilities for expanding the events to Milwaukee this summer, as well," she enthused.
Morgan-Hill chairs the UWPAA Social Committee and serves as director of UW-Parkside's Upward Bound Program. Other Parkside alums on the committee are Steve Kratochvil, Dave Snieg, and Shawnieka Wesley.
Alumni After Hours continues March 1 from 5-7 p.m. at Pazzo, located at 707 56th Street in the heart of downtown Kenosha. All UW-Parkside alumni and friends are welcome to the party.
