Senior Send Off set for April 11, 12

UW-Parkside Senior Send Off April 11 & 12.

"Yeah, I'm almost done!"

Marie Smith said this is a statement UW-Parkside students make when they finish their visits to Senior Send Off each semester. The two-day event, which brings together many of the departments and services students nearing graduate need, has become a milepost for students to gauge how close they are to completing their studies.

Spring semester Senior Send Off for students graduating in May 2012 is Wednesday, April 11, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and Thursday, April 12, from 4-6 p.m. on the Student Center Bridge

"Our goal is to bring key departments together to allow students to do 'one-stop shopping'" for graduation," said Smith, who is the university's career development coordinator. "At the end, students receive a sticker that says 'I'm graduating!'"

Smith made her comments during a Thursday meeting to prepare for the event.

During Senior Send Off, students can meet with department representative who can help them navigate the graduation process. This includes:

• Discussing career opportunities, grad schools, and signing up for workshops on resumes, cover letters, and interviewing with the Academic Advising and Career Center;
• Checking SOLAR for balances and holds with the Cashier;
• Reviewing their DARS and confirming degree requirements have been met with the Registrar's Office and much more.

Financial Aid, the Alumni Association, the bookstore, and ECU will be there. And Central Valley Studios will provide a free cap and gown portrait sitting and free online proofs to students.

Once again, spring semester Senior Send Off for May graduates is April 11, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and April 12, 4-6 p.m. on the Student Center Bridge.
