The University of Wisconsin-Parkside has announced the appointment of John Jaraczewski as Assistant Chancellor for University Relations and Advancement. Jaraczewski, who currently serves as Executive Director of United Stationers Charitable Foundation, begins his new duties March 19. He will report directly to Chancellor Debbie Ford.

"Mr. Jaraczewski brings a wealth of experience and proven success in line with the responsibilities of this position," Chancellor Ford said. "And he is enthusiastic about joining our UW-Parkside team."

Ford noted Jaraczewski and his family "reside in our local community."

Calling UW-Parkside a "tremendous asset to the entire region," Jaraczewski expressed his excitement about the opportunity to strengthen the community through the university.

"It's exciting to serve and advance the University of Wisconsin-Parkside's mission in the communities where I live and raise my family. We have a message and a purpose that deserves great attention locally as well as nationally," he stated.

Jaraczewski will be responsible for leading the university's philanthropic, marketing, and communication functions.

Advancement integrates development/fundraising, alumni relations, and the UW-Parkside Foundation. Development includes major gifts, annual and planned giving, corporate, legislative, and foundation relations as well as donor cultivation and stewardship. University Relations includes internal and external communication, public, legislative, and media relations, publications, and communication utilizing emerging technologies.

Jaraczewski has served as Executive Director of the Deerfield, Ill.-based United Stationers Charitable Foundation since 2008. While reshaping and expanding the foundation's Board of Trustees, he worked to heighten engagement between United Stationers' associates and the community while leveraging community programs to enhance the company's visibility.

He earlier served as Manager of Global Citizenship and Policy and the Abbott Fund and as Manager of Community Relations for Abbott in Abbott Park, Ill. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Jaraczewski's office will be located in Wyllie Hall.
