ROAR prepares for fall semester 2012, join in

While most of the campus is focused on completing a successful spring semester, First Year Experience CoordinatorAndrea Zick is already into planning the welcome for new students entering the university during fall semester. And in an email to campus, Zick said departments, offices, programs, and student organizations have the opportunity to be represented during upcoming sessions with new students.

"I'm pleased to announce the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Ranger Orientation, Advising, and Registration (ROAR) dates for the incoming class of new students for Fall 2012!" Zick wrote.

The dates are:

  • Saturday, April 21, 2012
  • Saturday, May 19, 2012
  • Friday, June 15, 2012
  • Friday, June 29, 2012
  • Sunday and Monday, July 22-23 (a pilot two-day session)
  • Friday, July 27, 2012
  • Friday August 10, 2012

Here's how your campus group can participate in each ROAR session:

Informational Fair

Students, parents, and other guests will have the opportunity to visit you in the Student Center Atrium between 3 and 4:30 p.m. to meet representatives, make an initial connection, and learn more about your unit and the resources and services it provides. Each unit will be provided with one large table and two chairs. Set-up starts at 2:30 p.m.

ROAR Student Packet:

Brochures or informational materials of value to all incoming students can be included in the packets students receive at ROAR check-in. All materials must conform to UW-Parkside Creative Services standards; 1,000 pieces must be delivered to ROAR c/o Admissions & New Student Services (room D105F of the Student Center) by Friday, April 13, for inclusion in the packets. Late submissions cannot be accepted.

Spaces at the Informational Fairs and in the ROAR Student Packets are limited, so reserve yours as soon as possible by emailing Janet Mrazek at Mrazek@uwp.edu no later than Thursday, April 12.

For more information on ROAR, visit the First Year Experience web site.

BTW, Ranger Welcome 2012 is Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3, and Tuesday, Sept. 4. Watch Ranger Today for more details.
