UW-Parkside athletes vie for titles this weekend

Athletically, it's what our student athletes have been striving for all season, all of their collegiate careers, all of their lives: the chance to be a national champion. Four University of Wisconsin-Parkside wrestlers, two runners, and the women's basketball team compete at their respective NCAA Division II national tournaments starting today.

The wrestling quartet of Dillon Bera, Matt Gille, James Malechek, and Luke Rynish are in Pueblo, Colorado, for the 2012 NCAA Wrestling Championships. They have their sights set on bringing home the 15th (or 16th or 17th or 18th) national title in school history.

Runners Hope Christie and Ben Orvold are in Mankato, Minnesota, for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Both will compete in the 5000 meter run.

Coach Jenny Kenesie's team is in Ashland, Ohio, to start NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. The Rangers face the University of Indianapolis today at 11 a.m. You can hear that game on WRJN 1400 AM or at www.gatewaysportsweb.org online. GO RANGERS!
